The YEI will soon publish a series of in-depth research papers and reports produced by our Research Fellows and collaborators.
Our core research focus is the UK: we publish data-driven analysis of poverty and economic development, with particular attention to British social mobility and the institutions that shape living standards, including healthcare, political rights, education, and unemployment.
Alongside this, our international research teams are developing projects on poverty and development across continental Europe, Africa, and Asia, applying the same analytical approach to different institutional and economic contexts.
Our Research Structure
- Six research teams, each made up of five researchers (30 researchers in total).
- Each team is producing one full report (six reports in total)
- Our researchers come from a range of academic backgrounds, primarily Economics, Politics, Statistics, and Mathematics
Research Themes
The 2026–27 series examines poverty and economic development across:
- The United Kingdom (with detailed work on social mobility, healthcare, political rights, education, and unemployment)
- Eastern Europe
- Sub-Saharan Africa
- South Asia
Publication Timeline
We will begin publishing the series in September 2026, releasing one report on the first Monday of each month until the full series is complete.
In the meantime, please explore our Articles section for current commentary and shorter analysis from our contributors.
